¹ Any excess downloads will be charged at 10c/MB which is capped at $49.95 for Lite 256k. Speed is reduced to 72 kbps once you have reached your monthly cap. Lite account is neither eligible for a static IP nor eligible for free traffic.

² Lite plus and Premium accounts are unlimited. Speed is reduced to 72 kbps once the Monthly Allowance is reached. Once you reach 120% of your monthly download allowance your connection will be shaped further to 33 kbps. Shaping provides full access to the Internet at a reduced speed of your ADSL service. Alternatively, you can choose to pay $10 per GB for excess downloads and access the Internet at full speed. Please note: New Members must select their excess option i.e. shaping or $10/GB, during the signup process. Existing Members can view and/or change their current excess options online at http://myaccount.westnet.com.au.
Premium members please note that both Westnet Neighbourhood traffic & uploaded data are not charged for or affected by shaping and will continue at full speed.
Please note that Free Traffic (Westnet Neighbourhood) and Static IP are not available on Lite plus accounts.

Getting connected - all you need to know

In order to get online your telephone line needs to be provisioned (made ADSL Broadband compatible). This process generally takes 5 to 10 working days. These changes take place at your local exchange.
You will only be billed if and when your ADSL line provisioning is successful.

Once your line has been made ADSL compatible you will receive an email or sms notification and any hardware you ordered will be couriered out to you. Once you receive your hardware simply follow the user-friendly step-by-step instructions included and you’ll be online in no time!

New Connection Fee - $99.00 (includes members upgrade from Dial Up)

Changing to Westnet - $25.00

If you already have ADSL with another provider, you can swap to Westnet with little or no down time and at a fraction of the cost. See if your current ISP is a fast transfer registered ISP.

Or

Opt for a 12 month contract - $0.00 (that's no charge)

And transfer to Westnet for free. Find out how easy it is to transfer to Westnet from your current Internet Provider.

IMPORTANT:
Even if your current ISP is part of the transfer process it does not guarantee that your service is transferable.

Broadband ADSL Information

What is ADSL?

ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) is a technology for transmitting digital information at a high bandwidth on existing phone lines to homes and businesses. ADSL is different to your ordinary Internet connection in many ways. ADSL provides a permanent connection to the Internet. ADSL is asymmetric in that it uses most of the channel to transmit downstream to the user and only a small part to receive information from the user. ADSL simultaneously accommodates analog (voice) information on the same line. This is done by installing a filter on your existing phone line, which blocks all signals above a certain frequency. Since all voice conversations take place below 4 KHz, the low-pass filters are built to block everything above 4 KHz, preventing the data signals from interfering with standard telephone calls.

Typical ADSL Setup:

Technical Information

General ADSL Account Information

Speeds are represented in downstream/upstream format, e.g. 256k / 64k represents up to 256 kilobits per second (kbps) downstream / 64kbps upstream. The downstream/upstream speeds refer to the maximum speed capable; Westnet does not guarantee that these speeds will be achieved. The actual speed that will be achieved is likely to be less than the maximum speed capable because of dimensioning, overheads, and other technical reasons.
Uploaded data (data sent to the Internet) will not be counted.
For the purposes of calculating usage, 1GB = 1000 megabytes (MB).
Unused download allowance cannot be rolled over into subsequent months.
Downloaded data that begins in Peak Time and ends in Off-Peak Time, or vice versa, will be allocated into both periods proportionately.
Customers wishing to change their ADSL speed will attract a $19.95 fee.
Plan changes and cancellations must be advised in writing to Westnet prior to the end of any billing period (calendar month) and will become effective as of the 1st of the following month. Please Email your changes to accounts@Westnet.com.au.
Customers have the option to use their ADSL account on our dialup service; however, this will incur an excess charge of $1.10/hr. Please note that customers may use our dialup service free during an outage.
Free Westnet Neighbourhood traffic within the customer's state.

Service and Connection Info

For new connections (including members upgrading from dialup) there is a $99 connection fee.
If the Client cancels their ADSL service or wishes to relocate the service to another phone line within the first 6 months of connection with the Company, the Client will incur a $55 early cancellation fee.
Please allow a minimum of 10 working days for service connection to be completed (unless otherwise notified). Connection time also depends on port availability.
Each ADSL account is only for use at the premises as indicated on this application. Each account is not transportable unless the customer is moving premises.
Customers wishing to change their nominated ADSL phone line or who transfer their ADSL phone line to new premises, will incur a $99 fee. The new phone line is subject to ADSL availability, service connection delay and port availability.
The telephone line must be a direct line. Incompatible line services include Analogue NT1, Call Diversion Number Only, Customer Loop Metering, Easy Call Multiple Number, Homezip, InContact, MessageBank Virtual, OnRamp (ISDN), Ported Number, Satellite Services and Siteline.
